If computers on your local network work with an external network through a firewall or another device with Network Address Translation (ie. internal addresses of the local network are translated into addresses that are accessible from the external network), we recommend you make firewall settings in ViPNet Manager. These settings provide the connections between ViPNet nodes and the external network without any manual settings on the ViPNet nodes themselves.
For information about firewall parameters, see your system administrator.
By default, ViPNet coordinators interact with the external network directly (without using any firewall) and ViPNet clients use a connection to the external network via the ViPNet coordinator which acts as their IP addresses server.
This section describes the types of connections available in ViPNet and how to use them for different network nodes.
